Chartered Physiotherapists

All assessments and treatments at Rugby Physiotherapy are given by fully qualified Chartered Physiotherapists who are Registered with the Health Professions Council.

The importance of this statement cannot be stressed enough. To find out more about this statement and further details of the Physiotherapy Team follow the link to Our Physiotherapy Team.

First Appointment

At Rugby Physiotherapy we try our best to maximise the time you spend with your Physiotherapist. That is why our receptionist will complete your consultation paperwork, prior to your arrival at the clinic. This means that you will not have to go through these details during your face to face time with your Physiotherapist.

For the first appointment, please arrive at the clinic 10 minutes before your allocated appointment. This will allow us to check that we have recorded your details correctly and give us the opportunity to take you through the treatment consent form. This simple form lays out our terms of business, highlights our cancellation policy and gives us your authority to treat you.

You will be asked to sign the consent form prior to commencing your assessment.

Initial Assessment

The initial assessment is the most important part of your course of Physiotherapy and is essential to establish the root cause of your problem and to plan the most effective treatment.

Your Physiotherapist will discuss their findings with you. They will explain and agree a treatment plan with you and also offer you advice on exercises which you could conduct at home to speed up the healing process.

To find out more detail about the format of the initial assessment and the likely questions, please consult the FAQ section.

Subsequent Treatments

At Rugby Physiotherapy we don't believe in relying solely on electrotherapy equipment. We believe that conditions and injuries recover quicker through a combination of expert "hand on" treatment combined with electrotherapy and exercise. Some of the manual and electrotherapy treatment techniques are identified below:

  • Manual joint mobilisation or manipulation techniques
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Exercise programmes
  • Ultrasound
  • Interferential
  • TENS
  • Accupuncture
  • Ergonomic advice
  • Pilates
  • Hydrotherapy

Each of our Physiotherapy Team has been selected due to their excellence at "hands on" therapy. The Physiotherapist will tailor each treatment to your specific needs and will utilise electrotherapy equipment to compliment their "manual therapy" techniques.

Every treatment is tailored to your specific needs. At the beginning of the treatment, your Physiotherapist will ask for your progress since the last session and they will compare this with the agreed plan. It is important to be totally frank and as clear as possible in your reply, as the Physiotherapist will use this to make small adjustments to the treatment plan. If you have benefited from the last treatment and feel that the Physiotherapist could do more, or equally if you are sore and feel the physiotherapist should do less, then tell them as your recovery time will benefit.

Discharge at full recovery

At Rugby Physiotherapy we do not believe in making you book and pay for treatments upfront, and we certainly don't keep you on treatment if we believe you have reached full recovery. We will strive to get you back to a full recovery as soon as possible. We will push for the last few degrees of movement or getting rid of the last elements of pain, and will discuss your options for discharge with you when we feel we have achieved this.

Medical Records

Detailed medical records are maintained at each stage throughout your episode of care at Rugby Physiotherapy. Physiotherapists update your records during and after each session, and will write clinical reports and discharge summaries for your GP & Consultant appointments, should you so desire.

Your medical records are also available (under separate release authorisation) for use by your solicitors and legal representatives. Should you require copies of your notes, please contact the clinic who will be able to oblige.

We take the security of your personal information and medical records very seriously at Rugby Physiotherapy. We are registered with the Data Protection Agency and are fully compliant with the safeguards mandated by them. To find out more follow the link to Data Protection.
